Training: Understanding Health Disparity – The Importance of Trust in Patient/Provider Relationships

July 29, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

How does trust shape patient-provider interactions, and how can you cultivate and build it?

Through a combination of interviews with both patients and providers, Aliha Mughal, Housing at Risk Intern at Montefiore Medical Center, explored the importance of trust in patient-provider relationships, what they believed was key to cultivating trust, and the role this all plays in housing. This event will explore these issues through an examination of the reasons behind historical and present distrust in health and housing, why cultivating trust is important in patient-provider interactions, and how providers can help trust can be cultivated despite existing challenges.

This event is intended for anyone who interacts with patients in a healthcare setting, including but not limited to, clinicians, social workers, and case managers.
